synopsis

Life on the Land is a sci-fi horror feature set in drought-struck rural Australia. The story follows Sal, a hospital cleaner in her late fifties, who lives with her husband on their struggling sheep farm. Sal once dreamt of saving the world through science, but life got in the way and now she’s stuck working for minimum wage just to make ends meet.

One day, Sal sees what she believes are mobile towers, constructed on their land without their consent. But when she and John find brutally mutilated sheep nearby, she begins to suspect they are dealing with something much more sinister. After a series of disturbing events take place, Sal discovers the towers belong to man-eating aliens who she tries to fight off and kill. But when Sal learns their intention is to solve climate change and that she is integral to their plans, Sal must face what it really means to save the world.
